WHY BECOME A PTSA MEMBER?
This is just a taste of what the UHS PTSA did for UHS Students, Families and Staff last school year!
In August, the PTSA Staff Appreciation Committee, held a UHS Staff Bar-B-Q. Over 100 hungry staff members were fed on a "back to school" staff development day, before school had even started.
In September, the PTSA volunteers worked tables to sell Spirit Wear at BACK TO SCHOOL events. Your PTSA also recruited and registered over 100 PTSA members. And as we do every month, your PTSA represented the interests of UHS students and families at local, county and state legislative and policy forums.
Your PTSA sponsored the Student Awards Ceremony in October, giving out over 300 academic pins for recognition of high academic achievement. Also in October, your PTSA held a College Financial Aid Information Night with a speaker who gave vital college funding information to a room full of "financially anxious" parents. In addition to those events for parents, your PTSA fed the staff AGAIN! This time to thank them for their LONG hours during conference week.
In December, the committees continued to work diligently on their plans for the next portion of the year. The Safe and Sane committee held a planning meeting and they continued to register seniors for the HUGE Safe & Sane After Graduation Party. And just like every month, we published the PTSA Newsletter to the entire school population via our website.
In January, the PTSA continued to grow in membership and like your PTSA does every month, we held a general membership meeting. Safe and Sane and all the other committees continued to plan for their upcoming events.
In May, the PTSA will vote in a new slate of officers for the executive board. Your PTSA will make plans for next school year. And we will award a PTA Lifetime Membership Award to one of our outstanding PTSA volunteers.
In June, your PTSA will recognize several graduating seniors for their outstanding academic feats, giving them pins at the Salute to Seniors Ceremony. Your PTSA will also award a $1500 scholarship to a very deserving senior. And to make sure the staff goes home FULL, the Staff Appreciation Committee will feed the staff one last MEAL! Breakfast will be served to the entire UHS Staff at the end of the school year to thank them for all their hard work with our students.
